It's Monday, What Are You Reading? {7}

Another Monday is here, so time to fill you in on what I've been reading!  Here is installment 7 of It's Monday, What Are You Reading? Inspiration from Sheila, you can find her blog here.

It's Monday, What Are You Reading?

Just Finished Reading: The latest in the Sookie Stackhouse series.  I love Eric.  That's probably what keeps me coming back for more.  Dead Reckoning ended very abruptly, and not even with some big cliff hanger.  I'm hoping that maybe this was the required set up for an awesome ending to the series.  I did enjoy it though.

What I Am Reading Right Now:  So, as you are reading this (well, depending on your time zone and when you actually get to this) I'm either on my way or in California.  I love that I occasionally get to travel for work, it changes things up.  So in order to be fully prepared for travel, I'm going to have 3 books ready to go.  I have The Wise Man's Fear by Patrick Rothfuss on my Nook.  It's the sequel to The Name of the Wind, that I surprisingly loved.  It's over 1,000 pages so I figured my Nook would be the best way to tote it around with me.  In case I can't handle the take off and landings when electronics must be turned off, I am also bring my paperback of The Night Circus by Erin Morgenstern.  I am ridiculously excited about this book.  It's one of my Goodreads giveaways and so far the reviews have been amazing.  I really can't wait for this one!  And lastly, I have the audio book Something Blue by Emily Giffin to listen to during my drive from LA to the base I'm going to be training at.  I don't think I've listened to an audio book since I was a little one, so we will see how this goes.  I feel sufficiently prepared for my upcoming trip.

What's Up Next: I had a bit of a book buying binge last week... No worries, everything I bought was on sale.  We got this nice little set....

I'm super excited about this series because it will be the first one that John and I are both going to read.  John doesn't read much, but he is interested in this so I jumped at the chance to get these!  We'll see how it goes.  I have a ton of other books on my Nook as well, so who knows, I might pick up one of those.

I'm always up for new book recommendations, so let me know what you are reading!

Oh, John...

It's official.  John has lost his wedding band....

I was waiting a while to say anything in hopes that it might appear, but it has not.  He lost it January 9th, the day I went on travel for work.  I was then gone six days and heard nothing of him losing it and of course I noticed it within minutes of getting off the plane when I got back.  So my husband didn't even make it a month with his wedding band.  I haven't quite made up my mind how I feel about it.  I did, however, mention that Valentine's Day was not far away and maybe he could  make it up to me then.  Silly boys...

Prepare to be dazzled...

Sometimes I try to make things a surprise. And most times I fail horribly because I immediately want to tell everyone. Which is basically what happened with my latest news....

I got engaged last night! Woohoo! I am so excited and ridiculously giddy I can't even begin to describe. Many have requested the story, so here it is.

John and I are really laid back people. The to the point, plain and simple kind. Which suits both of us fabulously. Last night we rode out to my mom and dad's house and had dinner. Did some visiting with the sweetest nephew ever and ate some yummy food. John and dad were talking outside by the grill having a few beverages, and my sister, Natalie, immediately knew something was up. She started asking me a million questions about John and I getting married and I told her it was going to happen I just wasn't 100% sure when. Well, we ate dinner and went home. Pretty much as soon as we walked in the door John took my hands and got down on one knee and proposed. And I squeed, um a lot haha. It was so sweet and so us. I of course immediately had to get on the phone and spread the good news. I have also pranced up and down the hall at work to make sure everyone has seen my newly acquired bling. Which is freaking gorgeous if I do say so myself!!

I promise a better picture. So I had a photo shoot with my ring and couldn't get anything that really got my ring and didn't make my hand look totally awkward.  It might not be a better picture...

Can I say that it made me day for all of my ibffs to be so excited for me? Because it totally did! Love you all big time!

Smiles all around

"We are all of us stars, and we deserve to twinkle."
-Marilyn Monroe

This made me smile, I hope it does the same for you!

This picture also makes me smile...

While we were in Vegas John's parents kept our sweet little Millie.  This was taken the day after we went to pick her up.  I love how excited she was to see us.  She is the one sleeping by his face, and Buster (his parent's dog) is laying next to him.  Millie loves to snuggle, she is the best!

Is there anything that made you smile today?
